About
Val’s is a mother-and-daughter cafe, tucked into Cookstown Enterprise Park beside Aldi on Old Belgard Road.
Val’s in the kitchen. Rachel’s out on the floor. They opened the place in 2021, named it after Val, and kept the homemade, made-to-order food they were known for around the corner at D Cups.
It’s the sort of room where regulars get their usual, the frames on the wall give you something to read, and the banter is up most days. Locals, trades, and the odd birthday breakfast — you’re welcome.
What’s on
From 7 in the morning. Buster breakfast rolls on crispy Vienna, omelettes, and a proper cup of coffee to set you up.
Homemade lasagne, the Val sandwich, and fish and chips on Wednesdays and Fridays. There’s often a pasta special on too.
Rachel’s a qualified barista. Cakes, pies and buns are made here. Grand for a sit-down or a takeaway cup.

Our favourite café. Delicious, fresh food and the best coffee in Tallaght.
Staff were very friendly, especially Val and her daughter. Great value for money compared to other food places in Cookstown.
The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming — it truly felt like home.
